Health Benefits and Healing Power of Red Clover

Red Clover Reduces the Symptoms of Menopause

When a woman’s estrogen levels drop, especially during menopause, red clover can have a positive effect on relieving symptoms associated with estrogen loss, called menopausal symptoms, such as hot flashes, sleep problems, weight gain, bone loss, fractures, or osteoporosis (bone loss), cardiovascular problems and joint inflammation.

It is estimated that approximately two-thirds of all women during and after menopause suffer from these disorders, and traditional treatments often provide little relief. Many women experienced an improvement in menopausal symptoms within a few months without adverse side effects when using red clover.

Red Clover Improves Cardiovascular Health

Low levels of estrogen increase the likelihood of osteoporosis and the risk of cardiovascular disease. Red clover may help improve artery health, reduce the risk of atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), promote circulation, manage high cholesterol levels, and help prevent coronary artery disease.

Although most studies on the heart health effects of red clover in 2021 have been conducted on animals, not humans, research suggests that red clover protects against heart disease due to its isoflavones, which may raise HDL (“good”) cholesterol levels. It may prevent blood clots and increase the elasticity of arteries.

Red Clover to Treat Skin Inflammation

Red clover isoflavones effectively slow down the signs of skin aging, such as wrinkles, and relieving inflammatory skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, and various forms of skin rashes. It acts on estrogen levels and has the most anti-inflammatory, UV-protective, collagen-stimulating, and healing effects. In older people, it reduces skin aging caused by reduced estrogen levels and may increase collagen production. Red clover is also suitable for treating the sick and has also been shown to promote healthy hair follicles, scalp, and nails.

Red Clover for Strong Bones

The most common type of osteoporosis (bone loss) is related to bone loss associated with ovarian hormone deficiency during menopause. There is some evidence that a diet high in phytoestrogenic isoflavones may reduce the risk of osteoporosis and other complications of menopause. Taking red clover is, therefore, a great way to combat osteoporosis.

It also helps women, especially post-menopausal women, at higher risk of fractures and bone loss due to a lack of estrogen for bone mineralization. Underweight women with low bone density may also benefit from red clover supplementation.

Red Clover Reduces the Risk of Certain Cancers

Isoflavones appear to help prevent the multiplication or growth of cancer cells and may also induce apoptosis (self-destruction of cancer cells). Red clover is likely to help against cancers associated with hormonal changes, such as prostate, breast, and uterine cancers.
